selection mode like in MSexcel or OOcalc

Nov 10, 2010 at 4:24 PM

Hello,

I need to implement multiple cell selection behaviour like in MSexcel or OOcalc:

selection has its star position (the first selected cell), and selection has its end position - ActiveCell, and all cells that are in selection area( between start and end positions) are selected

when end position of selection changes, then new cells are selected automatically if selection area grows, and cells get deselected when selection area shrinks.

is it posiible with the eSourceGrid?

ThankYou!

Have you looked at any of examples? There are plenty of samples with your described functionality

I have looked at all the examples and none of them worked as i need. Maybe i described my wish not clearly enough.

I'll try to explain again using example 17.

I start at cell with number 1. I hold Shift key and travel down to the 4-th row, then continue to hold Shift key and travel right to 3-rd column (I am at cell with nuber 12 now).

In the selection there are only the cells that i visited while holding Shift: (1;1), (2;1) (3;1) (4;1) (4;2) (4;3)

here is the screenshot:       http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4810401/example%2017%20selection.PNG

What i need is all cells from 1 to 4 rows and 1 to 3 columns to be selected.

here is a drawing how i want it to be:        http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4810401/example%2017%20selection%20wish.PNG

I still don't understand what is exactly the problem.

I could easily do what you want as in second example (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4810401/example%2017%20selection%20wish.PNG),

but could not achieve what you mentioned in first example.

Of course, for me the shift button did not seem to have any  effect. Is this the the problem you are reffering to?

well,  i could get the desired selection when using mouse.

but the behaviour of the selection is different when using keyboard only (up, down, left right keys holding Shift). I want that behaviur of the selection with keyboard is same as with mouse.

Please create a change request for this. This is actually good point, the selection should work the same with mouse or keyboard
